electric blue day gecko breeding project!
(lygodactylus williamsi)

Last year (2013) i bought a pair of electric blue day geckos! they had breed in the pet shop i got them from and also laid an egg after i bought them. None of the eggs laid hatched for various reasons, but now after a period of rest with lower temps through the winter, i aim to breed and successfully hatch some electric blues!

First of all, i chose a setup that would be most beneficial for my electric blues. The setup consisted of good UV, and to get that i use a t5 canopy. The setup also has a 25 watt heat bulb witch shines upon a range of different surfaces at different heights to create a range of different basking spots at temps that suits the geckos at different times. the temps of the basking spots ranged from 25-28 degrees! Personally i like to keep my pair in a exo terra 18, 18, 24. This size means that the geckos have enough space to rome around the cage and have personally space when needed, but also small enough so that the geckos are in each others presence at most times to stimulate breeding! As of decor inside the viv i aimed for an as natural setup as possible. I used a background that looked like tree bark and used real plants to fill the viv helping with the humidity.
